Delores Ann Wright

December 23, 1937 ~ September 17, 2016 (age 78) 78 Years Old

Delores A. Wright, 78, of Indianapolis, passed away at home surrounded by her family on Saturday, September 17, 2016.  She was born on December 23, 1937 to the late David and Leona Wright.  Loving Mother of daughters, Dana D. Longworth-Meeks and A. Leanna Longworth; grandchildren, Caleb L. Longworth, Taylor D. Longworth, Nathan B. Owens and Brookelynn R. Voelz; brother, Randy Wright; niece, Michelle Bacarra; nephew, David C. Wright; and many cousins in both Indiana and California.  She was preceded in death by her parents; the love of her life, Bill K. Danforth; and dear friend, L. Keith Bulen.  Services will be private.

Her careers were many; GM Systems, Programming & Math Analysis and 15-years at the family business where her father, David Wright, perfected the CD ROM called Select-A-Vision in 1982.  She taught at Patricia Stevens Modeling School and a local vocation school to prepare at home mothers & drop out high school students to return to the business world.  She loved music and sang in the Indianapolis Metropolitan Lutheran Choir for several years.

Delores was a dedicated volunteer to electing Richard Lugar to Mayor of Indianapolis, and William Hudnut and Dan Burton to Congress.  She was asked to be on our Indianapolis Committee where Beurt SerVaas served as president for many years; she declined the position due to aging and ill parents.  She was also given the opportunity to work at the Republican National Committee (RNC) Headquarters in Washington, D.C.  She declined that position as well.  She was Editor of the Young Republican Newspaper (Y.R.) and won first prize as Editor of the paper she fondly named the ‘Pulse’.

Dedicated to the betterment of our city she was active in the Indianapolis Symphony Orchestra, and Women in Neighborhood Service (WINS) to help promote the election of Richard Lugar to Mayor.  She worked tirelessly with many volunteers to convert all the paper voter registration information in Marion County to the Electronic Data Systems (EDS).  As a single parent, she made sure her daughters got a splendid education at Christian School to help them become good citizens and proud Hoosiers.  Their belief in God and Country was very important to her and church attendance was always a very important part of their week.
