Jerry C. Meek, 71, of Fairland passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his family on Wednesday, December 20, 2017. He was born in Indianapolis on August 31, 1946 to the late James and June Meek.

He provided for his family by working as a machinist, a job which he loved. He was an avid football and NASCAR fan, he was a volunteer firefighter for Warren Township. In his spare time he enjoyed traveling and camping, listening to old country music and 50’s and 60’s Bluegrass music, and metal working. Jerry had fond memories of making custom parts for a raffle motorcycle that Lucas Oil Stadium commissioned. Above all his greatest joy was spending time with his family.

He is survived by his loving wife of 27 years, Brenda A. Meek; his four sons, James Meek of Boston MA, Fred Cook (Crystal), Gary Cook (Shirley), and Timothy Cook (Kim); his daughter Amy Meek; his sister, Jenny Hays (Chuck). He is also survived by 7 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren; along with one niece and one nephew.

Final disposition will be cremation according to Jerry’s wishes. There will be no formal services observed. Arrangements and care provided by Lauck & Veldhof Funeral & Cremation Services, Indianapolis.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Indianapolis Fire Department.
