Joel “Boy Baby” Daverne Smith, 48, Indianapolis, passed away on Monday, August 15, 2016.  He was born on March 29, 1968 to Harold Lester and Ruth L. Smith in Indianapolis.  Joel loved Prince and playing cards, but above all he loved his family. He was a dedicated Uncle who treated his nieces and nephews like they were his own kids. Survivors include his mother, Ruth L. Smith; siblings, James Smith, Regina Woods (Frank), Annette Smith, JoAnn Nelson (Louis), and Michelle Smith; 20 nieces and nephews; 23 great nieces and nephews; and many other family and friends. He was preceded in death by his father, Harold Lester; and grandparents, Jack and Cora Smith.
