Lois Esther Taylor Weigand passed away peacefully after a short illness on Saturday, November 5, 2016, surrounded by loving family. She was born on August 12, 1926 in Monroe, Michigan, the daughter of Susan E. and Lawrence R. Taylor and was married on September 14, 1946 to Rev. Dr. Thomas Weigand. They were members of the United Methodist Church, serving churches in the North Indiana Conference for over 50 years. Lois was the Director of Emergency Services at the Elkhart County American Red Cross for 23 years. She was a member of the Trinity United Methodist Church In Elkhart, and the United Methodist Women. She was a 48-year member of the P.E.O. International Sisterhood, and local Chapter BG in Elkhart.
Survivors include four children, Marcia (William) Carothers, Fairfield, CT, Mark Weigand, Indianapolis, IN, Timothy Weigand, Nappanee, IN, and Tricia (Darrin) Pollachek, Indianapolis, IN, as well as ten grandchildren, one step-granddaughter, and five great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews and extended family whom she cherished. Preceding her in death were her husband Thomas, brother, Rev. Lawrence R. Taylor, Jr. And a sister, Patricia Anderson.
A Service of Thanksgiving and Celebration of Life will be held Saturday, November 12, 2016, at 11:00 a.m. at the Richville United Methodist Church, 11009 County Road 50, Ligonier, Indiana 46767. Memorial gifts may be made in her memory payable to the University of Indianapolis, designated "Weigand Family Scholarship Fund" and sent to the U of I Advancement Office, 1400 East Hanna Avenue, Indianapolis, IN 46227.
