Welcome to the memorial page for

Rev. Franklin Delano Sablan

March 13, 1944 ~ August 24, 2017 (age 73) 73 Years Old

Rev. Franklin Delano Sablan, 73, of Indianapolis was called home on August 24, 2017 after 49 years of service in ministry. He was born on March 13, 1944 in Agana, Guam to the late Rev. Dr. Joaquin and Beatrice Sablan.

Rev. Frank graduated from Oakland City University and earned his Master’s Degree in Music from Indiana State University in Terre Haute, Indiana. Frank earned his Masters of Divinity from Southern Baptist Theological Seminary in Louisville, Kentucky.

Frank’s career began as Associate Professor of Music at the University of Guam while serving as a pastor of the General Baptist Church. After several years Frank left Guam and began serving the Southern Indiana Conference of the United Methodist Church in 1979.

At the birth of his beloved granddaughter, Frank moved to Southern California to be closer to family, and was appointed to churches in the California-Pacific Annual Conference. While in California, Rev. Frank served on several national committees for the United Methodist Church.

Upon his retirement Rev. Frank returned to Indiana where he served as a part-time pastor.

In addition to spending time with family, one of Frank’s joys was riding his motorcycle wherever it would take him. Frank frequently rode across the Continental United States, including the Alaska Highway, making friends everywhere he traveled.

Frank is survived by his companion Darlene Aguirre, his two sons Jon Sablan and Michael Sablan, his two sisters Irene Ballinger (Chuck) and Pauline Sablan, granddaughter Brynn Sablan, uncles and aunts, and numerous nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be held at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday, September 7, 2017 at Broadway United Methodist Church (609 E. 29th Street, Indianapolis, IN 46205). The visitation will begin at 3:00 p.m. until the time of the service.
