Rita F. Whaley, age 58, of Indianapolis, IN passed away on Friday, September 29, 2017. She was born on April 8, 1959 in Cincinnati, Ohio to the late Reed and Edna Taylor.

Rita moved to Indianapolis with her family at a young age. She will be remembered for her love of cats and her two dogs (Benny and Rambo), her passion for flowers, and her love of cooking for her family. Her greatest joy was spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren.

She is survived by her two sons, Shawn Taylor and Donald Green Jr., both of Indianapolis and her daughter, Amanda Green of Indianapolis. She is also survived by six grandchildren; Sara Taylor, Shawn Taylor Jr., Austin Taylor, Tiffany Taylor, Abby Hahn, and Eric Mason. Aside from her close family, she is survived by numerous close extended family and loving friends. Rita is preceded in death by her parents, Reed and Edna Taylor; three siblings, Charles Isham, Mildred Taylor and Jeannie Isham Pointdexter.

Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, October 4, 2017 at Lauck and Veldhof Funeral & Cremation Services (1458 South Meridian Street, Indianapolis, IN 46225).
