Ruth Margaret Tansy, 91, of Indianapolis, passed away on Monday, July 31, 2017 at the St. Augustine Home for the Aged.  She was born on October 12, 1925 to the late Vincent Ambrose and Bernadette Rose (Kidwell) Matthews in Daviess County, Indiana. 

Ruth was a loving wife, mother and grandmother who was also devoted to her church, St. Matthew the Apostle Catholic Church.  She was a charter member of St. Matthew and 50 year volunteer there in the office.  Ruth loved to bowl, play bridge and read. 

She is survived by her loving children, Loral R. Tansy, Jr., Vincent “Scott” Tansy, Lana Ruth Keesling (husband, Bob Ketcham) and Bruce E. Tansy (wife, Susie); sister, Wilma Thyen; grandchildren, Ellen Ellis (husband, Eric), Justin Tansy, Nicole Keesling and Lauren Keesling; great-grandchildren, Kaden, Abriella, Lawson and Quinlynn.  She was preceded in death by her husband, Loral R. Tansy, Sr.; her parents; five brothers; and granddaughter, Andria Tansy. 

Family and friends will gather on Friday, August 4, 2017 from 4 to 8 p.m. in St. Matthew the Apostle Catholic Church, 4100 E. 56th St., with a rosary service at 8 p.m.  A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, August 5, 2017 at 11 a.m. in St. Matthew the Apostle Catholic Church with one hour of visitation prior to the service starting at 10 a.m.  Entombment will follow services in Oaklawn Memorial Gardens. 

Memorial contributions have been suggested to St. Matthew the Apostle Catholic Church.
