Elise "Susie" Susan (Baker) Conlin

Elise Susan “Susie” Conlin, 73, of Indianapolis, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, April 20, 2024.  She was born on March 20, 1951, in Indianapolis, to the late Paul Richard and Doris May (Miller) Baker.  She married the love of her life, Johnnie Lee Conlin, on June 7, 1969, in St. Roch Catholic Church. 

Susie loved children and continued to work, rather than retire, as a pre-school teacher at Kinder Care.  She loved her family unconditionally and was the matriarch of the Baker family planning and coordinating all the family get-togethers and holidays.  She loved her Catholic faith, volunteering in many capacities at Sacred Heart Catholic Church.  Susie enjoyed fishing, slot machines and going to the casinos. 

Survivors include her children, John Paul Conlin, Sherrie (Chad) Cummings and Amanda (John) Gordon; siblings, Paula Bierstedt, Paul R. “Bud” (Gail) Baker, Jr., Mary Ragon, Fred (Kathy) Baker, Richard (Marsha) Baker and Joseph Baker; grandchildren, Megan (Zak) Smith, Logan (Rhapsody) Conlin, Nathan Shimp, Emma (Aaron) Altman, Tyler (Alena) Cummings, Colin and Lucas Cummings, Jessica, Lilly, Tierra and Johnathan Gordon and Zane, Evey and Rex Byron; great-grandchildren, Stella Ridgeway, Ivy Altman and Banks, Harlow, Fischer, Wynnie and Harrison Smith. 

Susie was preceded in death by her husband of 51 years, Johnnie Conlin; brother, James Patrick Baker; and grandchildren, Nikki and Taylor Gordon. 

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, April 25, 2024, at 11 a.m. in Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 1530 Union St., Indianapolis, with Fr. Duc Pham, O.F.M. presiding.  Visitation will follow services on Thursday, April 25 from 2 to 5 p.m. in Lauck & Veldhof Funeral & Cremation Services, 1458 S. Meridian St., Indianapolis.  Inurnment will take place on a later date in Calvary Cemetery.
