Dorothy Elizabeth Borkes, 94, of Greenwood passed away on Friday, August 10, 2018. She was born on September 7, 1923 in Indianapolis to the late Carl J. and Leona Rebecca Meyer.

Dorothy was a graduate of Manuel High School and had a beautiful singing voice, she studied for a while at the Juilliard School of Music. She had a passion for china painting and various crafts, loved to play bingo and was known to be a “card shark.”

Survivors include her children, Becki (Paul) Philhower, Steve Borkes and Debbie (Jim) England; grandchildren, Brittany (Eddie) Gonzalez, Eleanor (Edwin Schuurmans) Harding, Megan Philhower, Beth England, Tim Philhower, Breanna England and Luci Borkes; and great-grandchildren, Zoe Dixon, Lillian Harding and Oscar Harding. She was preceded in death by her parents; her devoted husband, Charles Leon Borkes; daughter-in-law, Ruth Borkes; and grandson, Charlie Borkes.

A private graveside service will be held in Concordia Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the donor’s favorite charity. Online condolences may be left at www.lauckfuneralhome.com.
