Elizabeth "Betty" Ann (Genese) Hartmann

Elizabeth “Betty” Ann Hartmann, 83, of Greenwood and formerly, of Indianapolis and Columbus, Indiana, died on Wednesday, January 1, 2020.  She was born on March 25, 1936 in Hoboken, New Jersey to the late Leo and Mary (VanKleef) Genese. 

Betty started out as an x-ray technician and later transitioned into running an afterschool program for small children.  She also enjoyed substitute teaching in the Columbus and Trafalger schools and in spending time with her Red Hat Society friends. 

Betty was preceded in death by her husband, Francis Hartmann; daughter, Beth Ann Hartmann; brothers, Gerald Genese, Leo Genese; and sister, Evelyn Kiley. 

Survivors include her children, Thomas (Nancy) Hartmann, Christopher (Elizabeth) Hartmann and Elizabeth (Dan) White; and grandchildren, Valerie Sheff, Sarah Hartmann, William Hartmann, Danielle White and Timothy White; two great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. 

Family and friends will gather on Wednesday, January 8 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. in Lauck & Veldhof Funeral & Cremation Services, 1458 S. Meridian St., Indianapolis, with a service at 1 p.m.  Burial will follow in Concordia Cemetery.
