George Strack Obituary

George Paul Strack, 88, of Indianapolis, passed away on Wednesday, April 17, 2019.  He was born on February 22, 1931 in Indianapolis to the late Fred C. and Helen M (Meyer) Strack.

George graduated from Sacred Heart High School in 1949 and served in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict.  He worked for Link Belt for 40+ years, retiring in 1992.  George was a member of the Msgr. James M. Downey Council 3660 Knights of Columbus where he sang with the coral group.  One of his greatest joys was volunteering for the Wheeler Mission and when he couldn’t drive any longer, he would take the bus to be with “his guys.”  He loved to travel anywhere the car would go, was an avid Colts fan and a member of St. Mark the Evangelist Catholic Church.

Survivors include his loving wife of 56 years, Margaret M. (Stahl) Strack; children, Andrea Carver, Theresa Chaniga (John), David Strack and Jeanine Currans (Mark); and grandchildren, Emily, Meghan, Erin, Abbey, Nathan and Logan.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and siblings, Fred Strack, Mary Casey and James Strack.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, April 26, 2019 at 1 p.m. in St. Mark Catholic Church, 535 E. Edgewood Ave., with visitation prior to Mass in the church from 11 to 1 p.m.  Burial in St. Joseph Cemetery will take place on Monday, April 29, 2019.

In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the Wheeler Mission in George’s memory.  He most certainly would appreciate it.
