James “Jim” P. Putnam, 81, of Indianapolis, passed away on Thursday, December 28, 2017.  He was born on May 19, 1936 in Beech Grove to the late Norbert J. and Dorothy Catherine (Sapp) Putnam. 

Jim was a proud Korean War Veteran having served in the United States Army.  He was a member of the Monsignor James E. Downey Council 3660, Knights of Columbus and the Heat & Frost Insulators & Allied Workers Union, Local 18. 

Survivors include his loving wife of 62 years, Mary E. (Dietrich) Putnam; sons, Jim, Bill (Amy) and Ron Putnam; sisters, Rita Kopernak and Sandy Althoff; grandchildren, Kailey, Samantha and William Putnam and Sarah Ritchie (Noah); great-grandchildren, Austin, Brianna, Haylee, Abby, Joe and Minerva. 

Family and friends will gather on Thursday, January 4 from 4 to 8 p.m. in Lauck & Veldhof Funeral & Cremation Services with a rosary service at 7:30 p.m.  A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, January 5, 2018 at 11 a.m. in St. Roch Catholic Church with prayers being said at the funeral home prior to Mass at 10:30 a.m.  Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery.
