Margarita Garcia Tinajero, 57, of Indianapolis, passed away on Monday, June 18, 2018. She was born on July 20, 1960 in El Jaral, Guanajuato, Mexico to the late Hipolito Garcia and Sara Tinajero.
At the age of 14, Margarita entered the religious community of the Virgen of Fatima in Salvatierra, Guanajuto and became a nun. After leaving the convent when she was 22, she relocated to Indianapolis and became active in St. Patrick Catholic Church where she spent much of her time as a volunteer. Margarita was always happy, light hearted and always positive; her nieces and nephews adored her and her son, Giovanni, was her life. She will truly be missed by her family and countless friends.
Survivors include her loving son, Giovanni Garcia Arreguin; brothers, Jorge Garcia (Marisela), Agustin Garcia (Rosa) and Armando Garcia (Christina); sisters, Ana Garcia (Filiberto), Luisa Garcia (Isidro), Facunda Garcia (Julio), Martina Garcia (Guadalupe), Audelia Garcia (Antonio), Claudia Chavez (Ramon) and Rosario Garcia (Antonio); and 13 nieces and 15 nephews.
Family and friends will gather on Friday, June 22, 2018 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. in St. Patrick Catholic Church, 950 Prospect St., Indianapolis. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow in the church at 1 p.m. with Fr. Dennis Schafer, O.F.M. presiding.
