Patricia L. Voils, 83, of Brownsburg, passed away February 15, 2019, with family by her side.She was born to the late Mildred and Bluford Patterson, April 12, 1935, in Indianapolis, Indiana.
She was the oldest of 14 children. She was married to the late Alex R. Voils, Sr with whom she had 4 children; Alex Voils, Jr, Donna Voils, Daniel Voils and John Paul Voils. Patricia was a stay at home mother with an in-home cake decorating business. She provided beautiful cakes for hundreds of weddings and birthday celebrations. At the age of 40 she received her GED from Manual Highschool and attended 2 semesters of college at IUPUI. She was an active member of the Women’s Auxiliary at the Brownsburg VFW and was involved with providing activities for veterans at the VA Hospital in Indianapolis. Patricia joined the workforce at the age of 50, after the death of her husband and retired from Kroger’s Floral Dept. in 1997. In her later years, Patricia, was an avid quilt maker. She shared her quilts with family, marking special occasions like her grandchildren’s graduations and the birth of her great grandchildren. She also made a quilt for each of her siblings. Patricia was a 41-year survivor of breast cancer.
Patricia is survived by her 4 children, 8 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren, 4 brothers and 6 sisters. In her memory, family is asking for donations in Patricia’s name to the Breast Cancer Society of Indianapolis. As per her request, Patricia is being laid to rest with only immediate family present, at Lincoln Memorial Gardens in Whitestown, next to her husband Alex R. Voils, Sr.
