Richard Arthur “Rick” Davis, 66, of Indianapolis died Sunday, June 10, 2018, at his home. He had been ill for many months.
He was born Jan. 7, 1952, the third of seven children to Herschell and Barbara Davis.
On June 26, 1971, Richard married Evelyn Warfel. They had a son, Richard Todd Davis.
Richard was retired, having worked much of his life in sales and customer service. He fondly recalled his years as a traveling salesman with Baldwin-Miller Co., a jewelry wholesaler in the old wholesale district in downtown Indianapolis.
Richard was a big fan of the Indiana University Hoosiers basketball and football teams, the Dallas Cowboys, the Indianapolis Indians and the St. Louis Cardinals. He had enjoyed bowling, fishing and spending time with his cats. In his younger years he was a long time baseball coach at Garfield Y Little League.
Richard loved his family. He is survived by his girlfriend, Deborah Christian; his son, Todd (Lori) Davis; a granddaughter, Bailey Davis; a grandson, Brady Davis; two sisters, Becky (Tom) Davis of Lebanon and Mary Davis; two brothers, Bill (Karen) Davis and Danny (Karen) Davis of Seymour; an uncle, Bill (Carol) Troth of Bellefontaine, Ohio; nieces and nephews, Chris Davis, Katie Blackburn, Amy Davis, Ben Davis, Brandon Davis, Danielle Davis Apostolidis, Hannah Davis and Sarah Davis; great-nieces and great-nephews, Aspen Davis, Jordan Davis, Camden Davis, Andrew Blackburn, Aaron Blackburn, Kaleb Davis, Connor Davis, Emma Davis, Destiny Davis, Kaitlyn VanAtta and Kaden VanAtta; and several cousins. Richard was preceded in death by his two brothers, Larry Davis and Dennis Davis.
A celebration of life will be held Saturday June 16th from 10:30 AM to 12:30 PM at Mount Olive Lutheran Church.
