Mr. Schott was my dean at Roncallli High and boy did I keep him busy. I can truly attest to his intentional kindness and thoughtfulness in his job and as a mentor. He made a difference in my life and fortunately I had the opportunity to share this with him. RIP in peace big man....you were a man among men...With love and sympathy

Mr. Schott was one of my favorite teachers at Sacred Heart. I'll never forget the exam he prepared for us - a room set up with "specimens" for us to identify. He was interesting and kept us alert in class - we learned a lot from him. He was also kind. I'm so sorry to hear of his passing. May God bless him and his. He and his will be in my prayers.

For Dick:
And I will rise when He calls my name
No more sorrow, no more pain.
I will rise on eagle's wings
Before my God, fall on my knees.
And rise. I will rise.

I have fought the good fight,
I have finished the race,
I have kept the faith.

The Lord will open the gates of paradise and they will return to that homeland where there is not death but only lasting joy. Grant Dick eternal rest O Lord, and allow him to share in your heavenly glory. Precious Lord, take his hand and lead him home.
It was always a pleasure to see Dick at the football games, family reunions and celebrations. He was always friendly and in good spirits. He was truly golden just like his Dad, my Uncle Tedo. We shall meet again but not yet.
On behalf of the Cahill family, we extend our condolences to the entire Schott family at this time and remember them in our prayers in the days ahead.

Love, peace and prayers,
Mike and Joan Cahill

Jeanne and family, I wanted to take a minute to tell you that Dick was one of my favorite co-workers at Warren Central. He was so good with the kids - firm but kind. I grew up at 10th and Sterling. In talking with him one day, I found out that his dad/grandpa? owned the meat market on East 10th Street where we shopped. A funny memory - when Warren was involved in construction and there were lots of small openings for mice to come in, one got in the office and we chased it out in the hall where Dick was doing hall-duty. He stepped on the mouse and killed it! We jokingly told him to never step on one of us. The obit said he enjoyed his grandchildren - I can just imagine that he did! My love and sympathy to you and your family.

Dick was my biology teacher at Sacred Heart. I had such a crush on him at age 15. He was at Warren Central when my son worked on the school paper. He interviewed Dick and they became friends. Later, when I worked at Juvenile Court, we had the chance to renew our friendship through phone conversations. My sister, Theresa, worked at the nursing home recently and she told me that Dick spoke of me and my son fondly. He was a good man who will never be forgotten.

Dear Jeannie, Eric, Chris and Kirby:
You are all in our thoughts and prayers. It is sad that Dick Schott is no longer with us, but he left us all with so much, not only his immediate family but so many of us learned and aspired to follow his example. Our children learned from both of you a true spirituality and love of faith that will be his legacy. Love to you all. Jeanne, Eric, Chris and Kirby:
Our prayers for you and all your families. We have so many fond memories of our spring break camping trips at St. Andrews State Park in Panama City, FL. Fishing in the Gulf of Mexico, the bays and piers and being entertained be Dick's stories around the campfire. Dick's spirit and good nature will always be with us.

Dear Jeannie,
Jerry and I are so glad we got to spend time with you and Dick this past summer. He was a dear friend whom we will always remember for his stories about Sacred Heart High School, his adventures in Germany and his friend, Gehrhart. He was a good story teller and he made us laugh. We know he is now at peace in his forever home where he is waiting for you. Our thoughts and prayers are with you. Love, Anne and Jerry

Dearest Jeanne... when Mike told me the news my heart broke for you. Although I only met Dick the one time when Mike and I came to visit you both when you were recovering, when we left there you both left a special place in my heart. In those short couple of hours that we visited the love the two of you have for each other was so obvious! And the way you smiled and laughed with each other it was heartwarming. And Dick's many stories that he was telling making me laugh just made me want to hear more! I will hold those couple of hours and my heart forever. I know he has been having a lot of health issues these past few years and it brings comfort knowing that he no longer has pain and will be spending eternity in Heaven!

Jeanne, Eric, Chris and Kirby-
My heart has been saddened over the past couple of days having learned of your father’s passing. All I can say is that he left a profound impact on my life, just as he did for the thousands of people he encountered. His firm yet loving style underscored the principles by: family, faith, self discipline and fun. I know you will miss him dearly but please find some solice in the fact that he was truly a great man who lived on his terms and chose to impact everyone equally and positively.

Much love and respect.

Richard, God bless you. I'm sad to see you depart us, this world, but I'm very happy for you and your enjoying your well earned HEAVENLY reward. You are a great, good, big brother. All of us younger siblings always looked up to you, figuratively and literally. Dick, you watched over us many many times in many many ways. I thank you for that. Enjoy being with our brothers William and Henry. Also our siblings that we never got to hold hands with. David, Damian, Frances and Dorothy. Go hunt, fish, camp, share all you science knowledge with all. Ask Our Lord, to protect your sweet wife, friend Jeanne, and your 3 son's, and wonderful grandchildren. Please keep us all, in your heavenly thoughts. Watch over us from heaven, as you did on Earth. I love you Dick. Joe
