Richard Anthony Schott, 75, passed away on Wednesday, November 22, 2017.  He was born on August 15, 1942 in Beech Grove to the late Theodore Richard and Irene Louise (Lippert) Schott.  He was also preceded in death by his two brothers, William and Henry Schott. 

Dick grew up in Sacred Heart and then went on to play football for the University of Louisville where he was also a member of Lambda Chi Alpha.  He was later drafted by Minnesota and Buffalo in the NFL draft of 1964.  Dick earned Masters’ degrees from both Butler and Notre Dame and was a longtime educator, administrator and coach for over 40 years; truly revered by all who knew him.  His best years were at Roncalli High School where he served as Dean, taught science and coached football; he finished his career in administration at Warren Central High School.  He was a member of the Msgr. James M. Downey Council 3660, Knights of Columbus and St. Mark Catholic Church.  Dick enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping and spending time with his family.  The delight of his life was his fifteen grandchildren. 

Survivors include his loving wife, Jeanne L. (Werner) Schott; sons, Eric (Katie Griffin), Chris, and Kirby (Molly); brothers, Joe (Bonnie), Norbert and Ted; sister, Mary Schott; and grandchildren, William, Joe, David, Bridget, Tony, Jack, Jackson, Jimmy, Carolynne, Sam, Ella, Eddie, Josie, Charlie and Frannie. 

Family and friends will gather on Sunday, November 26, 2017 from 4 to 8 p.m. in St. Mark Catholic Church, 535 E. Edgewood Ave.  A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, November 27, 2017 at 10:30 a.m. in St. Mark Catholic Church.  Burial will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery. 

Memorial contributions have been suggested to Roncalli High School, St. Mark Catholic Church or Hearts & Hands of Indiana.  Arrangements and care were provided by Lauck & Veldhof Funeral & Cremation Services.  Online condolences may be shared with the family at www.LauckFuneralHome.com
