Robert Clifton Cole, 83, of Greenwood passed away on Saturday, July 21, 2018 surrounded by his family. He was born on January 6, 1935 in Liberty Kentucky to the late William and Mallie Cole.
Robert had a great love of his country and enlisted in the U.S Marines after high school. After his service to his country he provided for his family by working as a truck driver. He enjoyed country music, watching western’s and reading up on world affairs. His greatest joy was spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren and great grandchildren.
He is survived by his loving wife, Velma Ruth Cole; his five sons, John David Cole of Greenwood, Mark Anthony Cole (Carla) of Needham, Robert Lane Cheek (Karon) of Franklin, Timothy Lee Cheek of Franklin, and Michael Todd Cheek (Crystal) of Franklin; his two daughters, Theresa Jane Osborne (Paul) of Berea, KY, and Mary Denning (Joe) of Greenwood; two brothers, William D. Cole (Vicki) of Indianapolis, Stephen W, Cole of Bedford; three sisters; Violet R. Bohart ( Dave who is deceased), Geneva M. Hardin (Larry who is deceased) and Mary E. Salmon (John who is deceased. He is survived by numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren as well as numerous extended family and close friends.
Aside from his loving parents, Roberts was preceded in death by his sisters, Mildred, Margaret and Mallie.
