Samuel David Martinez, age 22, of Indianapolis, passed away on Saturday, October 6, 2012.  He was born on July 30, 1990 in Indianapolis to Doug Myron Hopping and Amy Arterberry Hopping.  Sam graduated from Lawrence North High School; he was a loving son and loyal friend.  He was in the U.S. Army Reserves and served honorably in Iraq.  He is survived by his mother, Amy Arterberry Martinez; step father, Gilberto Martinez; maternal grandparents, William and Joyce Arterberry; paternal grandmother, Beverly Willis; siblings, Charles Hopping Martinez, Cori Hopping Martinez and Miguel Martinez; maternal uncles, Ross Arterberry and Thomas Kennard; paternal uncles and aunts, Alan, Darin, Aaron, Jody, Judy and Janice; cousins, Krissy, Trevor, Ryan and Raelee.  He was preceded in death by his father, Doug Myron Hopping; and paternal grandfather, Myron Hopping.  A memorial visitation will take place in the Fort Harrison V.F.W. Post 7119, 6525 Lee Road, Indianapolis, IN 46236, with full military honors on Sunday, October 14, 2012 from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00p.m.  Memorial contributions are encouraged to the Fort Harrison V.F.W. Post 7119.  Burial will take place at a later date
