Ann "Annie" Margaret (Mathes) Smith

Ann “Annie” Margaret Smith, 57, of Indianapolis, passed away on Sunday, February 28, 2021 surrounded by family and friends.  She was born on Novmeber 23, 1963 in Franklin, Indiana to the late Gene R. and Barbara Lee (Williams) Mathes, Sr.  She married the loved of her life on August 18, 1979, Jeffery Brian Smith, Sr.; he survives. 

Annie retired from the Franklin Township School Corporation where she last worked at Acton Elementary as a custodian.  She enjoyed playing bingo, was a great cook (she loved to eat too!) and loved cats.  Annie was always happy and loved to laugh and have a good time.   She watched Nascar with her husband and enjoyed all racing.  Annie enjoyed the outdoors and spent a lot of time with her husband in the woods scouting out the best hunting spots. 

Survivors include her husband of 42 years, Jeff Smith, Sr.; son, Jeff “Buck” Smith, Jr.; siblings, Bobbie (James) Stephenson, Linda (Jamie) Garrett, Ruth (Tom) Carpenter, Gene (Annette) Mathes, Jr., Kathy (Louie) Richardson, Gary (Tonya) Mathes, Brenda (Dewayne) Balay; granddaughter, Alexis Marie Smith; and many nieces and nephews who loved her very much.  She was preceded in death by her parents and brother, Donnie Mathes. 

Services were private due to covid-19 and a celebration of her life will take place when it is safer to do so.
