Barbara Sue Catron, 72, of Indianapolis, passed on Wednesday, March 15, 2023, surrounded by her family. She was born July 7, 1950, in Beech Grove, to the late Elvin Patterson and Mary Lou (Kennedy) Patterson.
Barbara was the former owner of Magic Combs Hair Salon and was a cosmetologist for many years. She worked for the Marion County Auditor’s Office for over twenty years and retired from the Wayne Township Auditor’s Office. Barbara was recognized by the American Red Cross and given a “Key” to the city from the mayor for her efforts in saving eleven handicapped adults; the bus they were on was involved in a serious accident in Fountain Square.
Barbara loved cooking and finding new recipes. She enjoyed going to festivals, bowling and was a former member of the Ernie Pyle VFW1120.
Survivors include her daughters, Julia Dawn (Mark) Jeffries and April Lynn (Jose) Delgado; brother, David (Terri) Patterson; sister-in-laws, Janice Patterson and Darlene Patterson; grandchildren, Joshua (Brianna) Mitchner, Matthew (Angela) Mitchner, Candy Sue Catron, David Bays II, Antonio Zavala, Gracie Lynn Zavala, Jose Zavala, Jr. and Brianna Zavala; great-grandchildren, Nevaeh, Rylan, Jaxson and Baylee; niece and caregiver, Lisa Hughes; and her beloved dog, Snuggles. She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, William “Bill” Patterson and Paul Patterson; and significant other, Michael Smoot.
Family and friends will gather for visitation on Monday, March 20 from 3 to 5 p.m. in Lauck & Veldhof Funeral & Cremation Services, 1458 S. Meridian Street. Funeral services will follow at 5 p.m. with Pastor Brandy Pedigo officiating. Inurnment will take place on Friday, March 24 at 12 noon in Concordia Cemetery.
