Barbara Jean (Wilcox) Chriswell

Barbara Jean Chriswell, 82, of Indianapolis, passed away on Saturday, September 17, 2022.  She was born on August 3, 1940, in Glasgow, Kentucky, to the late Clester Lee Cox, Sr. and Ruth (Wilcox) Cox Gooch.  She moved to Indianapolis when her oldest daughter was 6 years old.

Barbara was raised Southern Baptist and was a very spiritual person.  She retired from Farm Bureau Insurance, was an avid reader and devoted to taking care of her family.  She will be truly missed by her family and friends. 

Survivors include her children, Donna Gray and Bobbi Dishman; sisters, Patty Sue (Dennis) Phillips, Peggy Lee (Danny) Dugard and Carolyn Goben; grandchildren, Sandy Marie Young, Francis Gray, James Dishman, Michael R. Dishman and Christina Dishman; five great-grandchildren.  She was preceded in death by her husband of 30 years, Robert Chriswell; children, Roy Lee Crenshaw and Howard Duane Crenshaw; and brothers, Clester Lee Cox, Jr. and Lucky Lee Cox.    

A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, September 21 at 11 a.m. in Lauck & Veldhof Funeral & Cremation Services, 1458 S. Meridian St., with one hour of visitation starting at 10 a.m. until the time of service.  Inurnment:  Round Hill Cemetery.

Memorial contributions have been suggested to the Wheeler Mission, envelopes will be provided by the funeral home.
