Barbara Hohmann Guy, 74, of Indianapolis, passed away peacefully with her daughters by her side on Tuesday, January 23, 2024. She was born on February 8, 1949, in Indianapolis, to the late Alfred and Gertrude (Esselborn) Hohmann.
Barbara was a graduate of Bishop Chartrand High School, class of 1967, and went on to raise three beautiful daughters, Jessica, Alicia and Brenna. She was a proud and devoted grandmother who enjoyed cooking, gardening and an occasional glass of red wine with ice. After her children were grown, she loved being a lunch lady at Nativity Catholic School. She will truly be missed by her loving family and close friends.
Survivors include her three daughters, Jessica (Michael) James, Alicia (Jeff) Borders and Brenna (Blair) Smith; siblings, Linda Hohmann, Michael (Anita) Hohmann, Angie (Jack) Hawkins and Lisa (Dean) Ehrgott; and grandchildren, Leila and Rylen James, Elliot, Lachlan, Sawyer and Cicily Borders and Cora and Silas Smith. She was preceded in death by her parents and sister, Scarlet Smith.
Family and friends will gather on Friday, January 26 from 3 to 6 p.m. in St. Roch Catholic Church, 3600 S. Pennsylvania St., Indianapolis. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated following visitation at 6 p.m. in the church. After Mass all are welcome to a Celebration of Life in the Parish Life Center. Inurnment will happen on a later date in Calvary Cemetery.
Memorial contributions have been suggested to the St. Vincent de Paul Society. Envelopes will be provided at the church.
