Betty Jeanne (Sauer) Dawson

Betty Jeanne (Sauer) Dawson, 98, passed away peacefully on Friday, August 26, 2022. She was born on March 21, 1924, in Cannelburg, Indiana, to the late Leonard and Rose (Kelly) Sauer.  

Betty graduated from St. John’s Academy in 1942 and went on to marry the love of her life, Thomas Bernard Dawson, with whom she had nine children. She was a fashionista and loved gardening, sewing, family gatherings, and playing Euchre. 

She was preceded in death by her husband of 34 years, Thomas Bernard Dawson, and son, Michael (Cindy) Dawson. Surviving children include; Susie (Jim) Kuntz, Nancy Johnson, Joe (Susie) Dawson, Mary (Adam) Wegener, Lisa (Dave) Knott, Tish (Gregg) Dahlby, Chris (Elaine) Dawson, and Rick (Cyndi) Dawson; and daughter-in-law, JoAnn Dawson. Betty’s surviving siblings include; Mary Jo (Jim) Roberts, Guerin (Opal) Sauer, and Cathy (Phil) Campbell. Her crowning glory was her ever-growing family, which also includes 31 grandchildren, and 46 great-grandchildren, with three more on the way.

Family and friends will gather on Monday, August 29, from 9 to 11 a.m. in St. Roch Catholic Church, 3600 S. Pennsylvania St. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated following visitation at 11 a.m. with Fr. Douglas Hunter presiding. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery.  

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Roch Catholic Church or the St. Vincent de Paul Society. Envelopes will be provided by the funeral home.
