Carl Froelich Obituary

Carl Froelich, 75, of Indianapolis, entered the arms of his Lord and Savior on January 14, 2026, at St. Francis Hospital, surrounded by his loving family.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Edward and Mary Froelich; his sister, Mary Coley; and his brother, Edward J. Froelich.

Carl is survived by his devoted wife, Jil; his beloved children, Carl Jr. (Vanessa), Jason (Tammy), and Jessica; and his cherished grandchildren, Elijah, Genevieve, and Theodore. He is also survived by his siblings, Roseann Kuhlmeyer, Josephine (Kenny) Busald, and Frank Froelich, along with many nieces, nephews, and extended family members.

Carl graduated from Southport High School in 1969. He worked for the Indianapolis Star newspaper and spent most of his career as a food service truck driver.

A man of simple pleasures, Carl enjoyed cooking, an afternoon of highly spirited card games with family, playing cornhole, watching sports, fishing, antiquing, listening to live music at local venues with Jil, and playing the stock market. A fierce competitor by nature, Carl’s determination was never more evident than during his serious health challenges. That determination, paired with Jil’s loving care, proved to be a powerful force.

God blessed Carl with a gentle, humble, and caring spirit. He possessed a subtle sense of humor, and his quick-witted one-liners were often delivered with a wink and a grin. Though he will be deeply missed by his family, they find comfort in knowing they will one day be reunited with him in Heaven.

A celebration of life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Carl’s memory to Franklin Pilgrim Holiness Church.
