Carol Diane Haney

Carol Diane “Cookie” Haney, 71, of Greencastle, Indiana died tragically in a fire on April 19, 2023. She was born July 23, 1951, in Fountainhead, Tennessee, to the late Raymond Cordell Haney and Edna Loren (Swindle) Stearns.

Carol attended IPS Schools #58 and # 71, she attended Arlington High School and graduated from Howe High School. She was a baptized and confirmed member of Forest Manor United Methodist Church in Indianapolis. Carol managed the office for Rid-A-Pest for over 30 years and was active in the Republican Party in Marion County, receiving the Sagamore of the Wabash, Indiana’s highest honor, for her efforts.

Survivors include her children, Carl Edgar Haney and Wade Hamilton (Michelle Lee) Haney; brother, Otha Merle Simmons; sister-in-law, Judy Simmons; grandchildren, Wade David Haney and Bobbie Clara Haney; great-grandchildren, Kaine West, Waylyn West and Kenra Desire Lorene Haney; nephews, Johny Simmons and Michael Sieffert; and niece Jessica Simmons. She was preceded in death by Wade’s father, Maurice Wade Ensminger; son, Bobby Ray Haney; and nephew, Kenneth Burnette.

Visitation will be held on Friday, May 5, 2023, from 12 to 2 p.m. in Lauck & Veldhof Funeral & Cremation Services, 1458 S. Meridian St. A memorial service will follow at 2 p.m. with Red Bone from Soldiers for Jesus MC officiating. Inurnment:  Washington Park Cemetery.
