Charlene Marie Spears (1965-2024)

Charlene Marie Spears, beloved mother of three children, 58, of Franklin, Indiana, passed away at home surrounded by her family on Tuesday, October 15th, leaving a void in all our hearts. 

She was born at the Ellsworth Air Force Base in South Dakota, in 1965, to Mary Elaine Roll (Eacret) and John Staley Roll, Jr., on December 23rd.  Charlene attended Indiana Business College and obtained her associate degree in accounting and business management where she remained on the dean’s list while raising her three kids and working a full-time job. 

Charlene took special joy in speaking about her children and grandchildren.  She liked to spend all her free time attending programs, competitions, and sporting events that they were involved in, being one of the loudest in the cheering section.  Her favorite thing was when they all spent time together, making memories and laughing until they cried.

Charlene had an amazing work ethic, believing you work hard for what you have.  She took great pride in her many jobs in the production and manufacturing business, becoming a true asset to any team.

Charlene was preceded in death by both her parents.  She is survived by her daughters, Dawn M. Cantrell (Scott Darling), Melinda A. Cantrell (Mark Bechtold) and son, Eddie M. Spears (Natalie Spears).  Granddaughters, Kayla M. Lowery, Alyssa E. Ruse, Emma R. Spears and grandsons, Ryan C. Ruse and Mason D. Bechtold.  Sister, Tracy Yingling, brothers, John Roll, III., Thad Roll, Michael Roll and Travis Roll, as well as many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews who will never forget the love she brought to their lives. 

A memorial service will be held on Sunday, October 27th at 1 p.m. at the Beeson Hall, 396 Branigan Blvd., Franklin, IN 46131.  A Celebration of Life will immediately follow the memorial service until 4 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions have been suggested to The Breast Cancer Research Foundation in Charlene’s name.  Envelope’s will be provided at the service or you can give online at www.give.bcrf.org
