Charles "Rick" R. Himes

Charles R. “Rick” Himes, 68, Indianapolis, passed away on Tuesday, April 8, 2025.  He was born on January 4, 1957, in Maysville, Kentucky, to Paul Himes and Ruby (Handy) Zehe.  He married the love of his life, Sarah Kathryn (Massing) Himes, on June 10, 1978, in St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church in West Lafayette, Indiana. 

Rick was a graduate of Terre Haute North High School, class of 1975, and went on to attend Purdue University.  He loved to golf and was an avid fan of Purdue Football and Basketball and the St. Louis Cardinals.  His greatest joy was in his two grandchildren, Leo and Ava. 

Survivors include his wife of 46 years, Sarah Himes; son, Jeremy Himes; daughter, Allison (Mathew) McLuckey; mother, Ruby Zehe; siblings, Linda (Lloyd) Burch, Brian Himes and Dawn (David) Himes Byers; and grandchildren, Leo and Ava.  He was preceded in death by his father, Paul Himes. 

A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Monday, April 14, 2025, at 1 p.m. in St. Roch Catholic Church, 3600 S. Pennsylvania St., with visitation in the church prior to the Mass starting at 11 a.m. Inurnment will follow in Calvary Cemetery. 

Memorial contributions have been suggested to the Pete and Alice Dye Legacy Fund at IndianaGolf.org  Envelopes will be provided at the church.
