Daniel Joseph Pierle, 76, of Indianapolis, passed away on Friday, July 21, 2023, at home surrounded by family. He was born on May 18, 1947, in Beech Grove, to the late Aloysius and Harriett (Neu) Pierle. He married the love of his life, Christine (Morrison) Pierle, on June 7, 1969, in St. Roch Catholic Church; she survives.
Dan was a proud graduate of Cathedral High School, class of 1965, and Purdue University, where he received his bachelor’s degree in construction technology through the Engineering Department. He worked as a Construction Engineer for 44 years prior to retirement for the Indiana Department of Transportation (INDOT). Dan was involved in his church and community at St. Roch Catholic Church, serving for many years as athletic director as well as in many other volunteer capacities. Dan was an avid sportsman, playing softball, running, rooting for the Cubs and Colts, and attending as many games and activities of his children and grandchildren as he could.
Survivors include his loving wife of 54 years, Christine Pierle; children, Daniel J. (Emily) Pierle, II., Regina C. (Bryan) Ashley, Matthew R. (Stephanie) Pierle and Angela M. (Thomas) Kraft; siblings, LeeAnn Briggeman, Michael (Sally) Pierle, Donna Wheeler and Gary (Judy) Pierle; grandchildren, Nick, Emma, Joe, Elise, Maddie, Max, Sophia, Gabby and Ellie. Dan was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Mary Jo Pierle.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, July 29, 2023, at 12 noon in St. Roch Catholic Church, 3636 S. Pennsylvania St., with visitation prior in the church starting at 10 a.m. A meal will follow services in the Parish Life Center at the church. Inurnment: Monday, July 31 at 11 a.m. in Calvary Cemetery Mausoleum.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Dan’s memory to St. Roch Catholic Church or to Society of St. Vincent de Paul – Indianapolis.
