Daniel J. Yutzy, 80, of Plainfield, passed away on Saturday, November 28, 2020. He was born on August 25, 1940 in Mt. Eaton, Ohio to the late Jonas N. and Elizabeth (Troyer) Yutzy. He wed the love of his life on August 21, 1987, Linda K. (Chandler) Yutzy.
Daniel attended Arthur High School in Arthur, Illinois and served honorably in the United States Navy. He worked as a security officer for 37 years, working for Burns, Pinkerton and Securitas security companies. Daniel loved to fish and spend time in the Smokey Mountains. He loved the Colts and watching football but his greatest joy was his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Survivors include his loving wife of 33 years, Linda K. Yutzy; children, Kathy Richardson (Tom) and Dennis Shores (Branna); sister, Fern Horn; grandchildren, Chris Cornelius, Tim Richardson (fiancé, Tudette Bowman), Zach Richardson (fiancé, Taylor Burris), Matthew Stephens, Jonathan Stephens (Kaitlin), Nicholas Taylor (Asanti), Benjamin Shores, Gabriel Shores, Erin Peabody (Cory) and Callan Smith; great-grandchildren, Gabrielle, Molly, Averie and Natalie. He was preceded in death by his parents and son, Randall Shores.
Family and friends will gather on Thursday, December 3, 2020 from 5 to 7 p.m. in Lauck & Veldhof Funeral & Cremation Services, 1458 S. Meridian St., with a service following at 7 p.m. with Pastor Jim Boicourt officiating.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions have been suggested to the Alzheimers Association or the American Lung Association. Envelopes will be provided by the funeral home.
