David Wilson Baker, III

David Wilson Baker, III., 76, of Indianapolis, passed away on Monday, July 22, 2024.  He was born on May 3, 1948, in Kankakee, Illinois, to the late David Wilson Baker II and Beatrice Laura (LeClair) Baker.  He was a graduate of Bishop McNamara Catholic School in Kankakee, Illinois, class of 1965.

Dave married the love of his life, Marcy Lynn (Harnedy) Baker, on September 29, 1979.  He was very entrepreneurial and was self employed for most of his working career.  He loved to golf, fish, travel and enjoy the outdoors.  He had a strong faith and loved his family dearly; he loved to host family and friends for almost any occasion.  He enjoyed playing dominos and cards and was a “suspect scorekeeper.” 

Survivors include his loving wife of 44 years, Marcy Baker; children, William (Tabitha) Overton, David (Angie) Baker, IV. and Zach (Andi) Baker; siblings, Sister Beatrice Baker, Connie (Joel) Zagel, Pam Brown and Mike Baker; grandchildren, Devon and Dylan Overton, Kebra Fischer, Tate Chow, Mallory, Carly and Max Baker, and Zane, Eli, Dallas and Mila Baker.  Great-grandchildren, Van and Layne.  He was preceded in death by his parents, and children, Keith Overton and Melissa Fischer. 

Family and friends will gather on Friday, July 26, 2024, from 11 to 1 p.m. in St. Roch Catholic Church, 3600 S. Pennsylvania St., Indianapolis.  A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 1 p.m. in the church with Fr. Douglas Hunter presiding.  Cremation will follow services in keeping with Dave’s wishes.
