David Hall Claywell, 75, of Indianapolis, passed away on Thursday, July 22, 2021. He was born on June 4, 1946 in Burkesville, Kentucky, to the late Paul and Rosie (Garrett) Claywell.
David retired from International Havester/Navistar and was a member of the United Auto Workers Local 226. He was an avid collector of coins and stamps and enjoyed golfing. David also enjoyed fishing, metal detecting, cooking, gardening and landscaping.
Survivors include his daughters, Karen (Rick) Herrholtz and Tricia Claywell; siblings, Doug (Shirley) Claywell, Joyce Capps and Robbie Curtis; his beloved dog, Jack; and a host of grandchildren, greatgrandchildren, family and friends. He was preceded in death by his wife, Shirley (Sampson) Claywell; and siblings, Grace Turner, Univae Scott, Donnie Winchester, Clifton Claywell, Roy Claywell, Russell Claywell and Delmar Claywell.
Family and friends will gather on Tuesday, July 27, 2021 from 10 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. in Lauck &Veldhof Funeral & Cremation Services, 1458 S. Meridian St. A service celebrating David’s life will follow at 1:30 p.m. with Pastor Ray Renner officiating. Burial: Forest Lawn Memory Gardens in Greenwood.
