David A. Johnstone

David A. Johnstone AKA “Stoney,” of Beech Grove, Indiana, died on Wednesday, July 30, 2025.  Dave was born in Ontario, Canada, on December 6, 1946, to David and Jesse Johnstone; they preceded him in death.

His family moved to Beech Grove with the railroad when he was in 8th grade.  He attended Beech Grove Schools, where he met the love of his life, Vicki Hook Johnstone.   They were married 34 years before her death in 2000. 

Dave was one of a few non-U.S. citizens to serve in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War and he returned home to his job at Amtrak until his retirement day.

He was a charter member of the Beech Grove Eagles #4167Aerie and a proud Red Cross “50” gallon donor status. 

Survivors include his children, David Johnstone of Beech Grove and Angie Johnstone of Indianapolis, and sister, Jeanne Hofstee of Ontario, Canada. 

Memorial contributions have been suggested to the Beech Grove Eagles Scholarship Fund or your favorite animal shelter.
