In Loving Memory of Dennis Sloan (Beck) Lilly
Dennis Sloan (Beck) Lilly, affectionately known as “Denny” to his friends, passed away peacefully on Sunday, November 2, 2025, in Indianapolis, Indiana. Born on October 30, 1955, in Indianapolis to the late Gilbert "Tienz" and Margaret (Traylor) Beck, Denny lived a life marked by fierce independence, unforgettable stories, and unwavering loyalty.
Denny was a force of nature—strong-willed, rough around the edges, yet deeply loving to those fortunate enough to be in his circle. A true entrepreneur at heart, he was always “working 24/7,” whether buying and selling properties, trading stocks, flipping cars and furniture, or even carrying luggage as a bellman. His mind, as he proudly claimed, was like an elephant’s—sharp, enduring, and full of tales. He was a night owl with a gambler’s spirit, drawn to slot machines, cards, and lottery tickets. Luck often favored him, including a memorable $100,000 win on a $100 slot machine pull.
Denny is survived by his devoted spouse of thirty years, Ralph Lilly; his sister Judy Line; and his nieces and nephews: Billy, Angie, Gary, and David Apple, and Kenny and Robbie Collins. He was preceded in death by his wife Frances Sloan; his parents; and siblings Gilbert (Butch) Beck, Tobin Beck, Sandra Apple, and Margaret (Peggy) Beck.
Family and friends are invited to gather on Thursday, November 6, 2025, from 1 to 2 p.m. at Lauck & Veldhof Funeral & Cremation Service, 1458 S. Meridian St., Indianapolis. A service celebrating Denny’s life will follow at 2 p.m., officiated by Rev. Loral Tansy. Entombment will take place at Calvary Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
