Donald Lynn Holtzclaw, 69, passed away Sunday, April 23, 2023 at his Parker City, Indiana residence. The eldest son of Cecil G. and Anna Marie Miller Holtzclaw, Don was born Thursday, August 6, 1953 in Muncie, Indiana.
Don graduated from Delta High School, Class of 1971. He was employed for several years with the lumberyard in Hartford City. In March of 1979, he started working as a tool and die maker, assembler, machinist with Delaware Dynamics (former Delaware Machinery & Tool Co., Inc.) and continued to work part time through April 20, 2023.
He liked playing with his big-boy toys, the 4-wheeler and tractor. Don followed NASCAR, having attended the Brickyard 400 in Indianapolis and the Daytona 500 in Florida since he followed Dale Earnhardt, Sr. He loved working with his hands, especially doing woodworking projects and could be found with his head under the hood of one of his vehicles.
Don is survived by his two brothers, Darrell F. Holtzclaw of Indianapolis and Cecil Jr. (wife: Debbi) Holtzclaw of Gobles, Michigan; three nephews, Ryan T. Holtzclaw (Chanel Reynolds) of Indianapolis. Craig L. (wife: Serena) Holtzclaw of Muncie and Stephen J. (wife: Jessica) Holtzclaw of Eaton, Indiana; great-nephew, Riley Holtzclaw; great-niece, Jasmine Haire. In addition to his parents, Don was preceded in death by brother, Randy Allen Holtzclaw and sister, Dollie Irene Holtzclaw.
Family and friends may gather from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Thursday, May 4, 2023 at Parson Mortuary – 801 West Adams Street, Muncie. A graveside committal service will be conducted at 1:30 p.m. at Elm Ridge Memorial Park, Muncie.
The family has asked in lieu of flowers, please consider making memorial contributions to the American Heart Association.
