Donald Milton Roller, 85, of Indianapolis, passed on Thursday, February 9, 2023 at home surrounded by his wife and children. He was born on August 18, 1937 in Fort Wayne, Indiana to the late Milton and Ann V. (Matusine) Roller.
Don married the love of his life, Ann Therese (Leary) Roller, on December 8, 1973. They met through a singles group called Catholic Alumni Club where Don was the local chapter president and later the regional vice president with Ann as the secretary. Don was a graduate of Eel River-Perry Consolidated High School in Huntertown, Indiana. He earned his bachelor’s degree from Purdue University and master’s degree from Butler University. Don worked as a Biomedical engineer before delving into other career interests.
Don served in the United States Air Force and was an equipment engineer on fighter jets; he served one year in France and enjoyed traveling whenever on leave. He belonged to a radio club, enjoyed gardening and loved all his instruments and tools of which he took excellent care. Don followed sports, especially his beloved Purdue. He studied astronomy and he and Ann enjoyed camping and visiting state and national parks. He was a dedicated loving husband, father and grandfather who will truly be missed.
Survivors include his loving wife of 49 years, Ann T. Roller; children, Joseph M. (Tracey E.) Roller, Christopher T. (Jessie) Roller and Therese A. (Michael J.) Schroeder; eleven living grandchildren and two grandchildren in heaven.
Visitation will be held on Friday, February 17 from 4 to 7:45 p.m., with a rosary service at 7:45 p.m. in Lauck & Veldhof Funeral & Cremation Services, 1458 S. Meridian St. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, February 18 at 11 a.m. in St. Barnabas Catholic Church, 8300 Rahke Rd., with one hour of visitation prior to the Mass starting at 10 a.m. in the church. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery with military honors.
