Donald Anthony “Tony” Gorball, 52, of Indianapolis, passed away on Thursday, April 10, 2025, in Community South Hospital. He was born on March 29, 1973, in Hammond, Indiana, to Donald Gene and Cherie Ann (Abraham) Gorball. Tony married the love of his life, Becky Jo (Simmermeyer) Gorball, on August 31, 1996, in the chapel at Marian College.
Tony was a graduate of Lowell High School, class of 1991. After graduating from Marian College (BA in Music Education), Tony started his career as a music teacher at Scecina Memorial High School, then North Vernon, and finally at St. Roch and All Saints. He attended Purdue University, where he earned a master’s degree and entered the field of technology. Most recently, he was a Scrum Master at Eli Lilly and Company, fulfilling a life-long dream.
He was a parishioner of St. Roch Catholic Church, where he served as a cantor and was an active member of the Men’s Club and the choir. He was a multitalented musician who could play a range of instruments. Tony was the drummer in several local bands, most recently Uncle JuJu and Spinrut.
Tony's beloved Gorball and Abraham families raised him to be a passionate and committed family man who modelled love and leadership in every community that his life touched. As a truly devoted Dad, Tony coached CYO football and local league baseball during the years son Drew was playing and proudly attended daughter Celeste's dance and musical performances. He joined the Board at Roncalli High School out of his desire to engage in the education of his children.
Tony never met a stranger. He was kind, giving, and fun. He called his friends brothers, and he meant it. Tony was a pro at maintaining contact with every friend he met along the way, all the way from his early childhood through to the close of his brief time on this earth.
Survivors include his loving wife, Becky Gorball; children, Andrew Gorball and Celeste Gorball; parents, Donald and Cherie Gorball of Lowell, Indiana; brother, Clint (Kellie) Gorball; and niece, Kendall Gorball.
