Donna Dezern Obituary

Donna J. Dezern (Biehl) passed away peacefully on October 15th at 4:25am at Meadow Lakes in Mooresville, IN.  She was a very loved mother, grandmother, sister, friend, and ally.

Donna Jean Biehl was born on 2/18/1950 to Donald and Mary Biehl at St. Francis Hospital in Beech Grove.  Donna grew up on the Southside of Indianapolis and remained a proud southsider all of her life.  Donna attended grade school at Little Flower Elem and Sacred Heart Elem.  Donna played kickball in elementary school and was known to brag about playing 3rd base.  Also, she was a cheerleader and yearbook editor.  She graduated from Sacred Heart High School in 1968 and graduated with a B.S. Degree in Journalism from Indiana University in 1972.  Donna worked as a legal secretary until retiring in 2009.  She also worked part time at Jo-Ann Fabrics and Von-Maur.

Donna was a devoted mother to her 5 children: David (Rene) Dezern, Philip (Suzanne) Dezern, Aaron Dezern, Beth (Zach) Aldridge, and Julie (Josiah) Berry.  Donna was a proud grandmother of 9 (Lily, Jayden, Christopher, Luke, Logan, Liam, Brady, Piper, and Arabella).

Donna enjoyed writing, gardening, crafting, couponing, thrifting, and researching genealogy.  Donna collected angels and vintage postcards.  She also had a lifelong love of horses.  She was a member of Midwest Writers Group in Avon and American Business Women Association. She collected family recipes in hopes of publishing her own Family Cookbook.  Donna was a published journalist in the following magazines: Good Old Days, Reminisce, Reminisce Extra, and Remember When Magazine.

Donna enjoyed spending time with family and friends.  She overcame many obstacles in life and was incredibly resilient.  She taught her children to work hard, pray hard, and enjoy the little things in life.  She always had the porch light on to come home.

Donna was preceded in death by her parents, Donald and Mary Biehl, infant sister Beverly, and many aunts and uncles.

She is survived by her 5 children, 9 grandchildren, sister Diana (Jon) Jones, and nephew Denver (Lizz) Alexander.
