Gary Lane Thompson, 59, of Indianapolis, died tragically in a work-related accident on Tuesday, April 30, 2024. He was born in Indianapolis, on December 1, 1964, to Robert H. Thompson and Joann M. (Eacret) Thompson.
Gary was a graduate of Center Grove High School, class of 1983, and went on to serve in the United States Marine Corp, primarily at Camp Lejeune.
Gary was an automotive mechanic and a motorcycle enthusiast, having rebuilt his brother’s motorcycle after a tragic accident. He was proud of his children and was always willing to help others when needed. He will be remembered as a talented mechanic and for his strong work ethic.
Survivors include, his children, Robbert Thompson and Megan Rae Frazier; mother, Joann M. Thompson (John Hughes); sister, Cynthia M. Alvey; and many aunts, uncles and cousins. He was preceded in death by his father, Robert H. Thompson, and brother, and fellow Marine, Robert H. Thompson, Jr.
Family and friends will gather on Friday, May 10, 2024, from 10 to 11 a.m. in St. Barnabas Catholic Church, 8300 Rahke Rd., Indianapolis, with a Mass of Christian Burial to follow at 11 a.m. in the church. Rev. Fr. Eustace Thang will be the presider.
Inurnment will be on a later date in the Crown Hill National Cemetery in Indianapolis.
