In Loving Memory of Geralyn Marie (Pierle) Durrett
March 28, 1952 – August 20, 2025
The family of Geralyn Marie (Pierle) Durrett, of Indianapolis, is heartbroken to announce her peaceful passing on August 20, 2025, at the age of 73.
Born on March 28, 1952, to Lee and Dorothy (Schafer) Pierle, Geralyn lived a joyful and faith-filled life, even throughout the challenges of her recent health journey. A devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend, she leaves behind a legacy of love, kindness, and unwavering faith.
She is deeply missed by her beloved husband of 50 years, Danny Durrett, and their children: Randy (Jennifer) Stahley, Daisy (Todd) Brown, and Jon (Jenny) Durrett. Her joy multiplied through her 11 grandchildren—Luke, Alee, Olivia, Adam, Izzy, Eliza, Dominic, Leah, Ava, Addie, and Jonny—and six cherished great-grandchildren.
Gerri is also survived by her 11 loving siblings: Joe (Jeannie) Pierle, Dyanne Franchville, Suzanne (Merrill) Polk, Kathryn (Jack) Denney, Steve (Debbie) Pierle, Larry (Charlene) Pierle, Herb Pierle, Debbie (Kenny) Mappes, Margie (Ralph) Walker, Tony Pierle, and Dottie (Jimmy) Warren. She will be remembered fondly by her in-laws: Dave (Dianne) Durrett, Jim (Marlena) Durrett, Don Durrett, and Buzz Durrett, along with many nieces, nephews, and friends.
You could often find Gerri sitting peacefully in the sunshine—her favorite place to reflect, pray, and enjoy life’s simple gifts. She had a true talent for finding hidden treasures in thrift stores and a passion for creating beauty with her hands. A jack-of-all-trades, she excelled in carpentry, sewing, wallpapering, upholstery, and crafting meaningful, handmade gifts for those she loved.
Her greatest joys in life were her family and her faith. She was a daily Mass-goer for many years and lived each day with grace, humility, and a deep love for God. Her presence was a constant source of strength and warmth, and her legacy of compassion will continue to shine through all who knew her.
Family and friends will gather on Wednesday, August 27 from 4 to 8 p.m. in Lauck & Veldhof Funeral Home, 1458 S. Meridian St., Indianapolis. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, August 28 at 10 a.m. in St. Roch Catholic Church, 3600 S. Pennsylvania Street, with Fr. Douglas Hunter presiding. Entombment will follow services in Calvary Cemetery.
