Harvey Rice, Jr.

Harvey Rice, Jr., 61, of Indianapolis, passed away on Friday, January 17, 2020.  He was born on October 24, 1958 in Indianapolis to the late Harvey and Martha Nell (Payne) Rice. 

He was employed by Pepsi Co. for the past 19 years and had worked for John Sexton & Company for 23 years prior.  He liked to fish and loved his grandchildren.  He was a devoted companion and father. 

Survivors include his longtime companion of 31 years, Mary Applegate; daughters, Ashley Applegate, Corie Lane (Jeremiah) and Rachel Applegate; step-mother, Alberta Rice; and siblings, Cathy Rice, Karen Rice, Jeffery L. Rice and Mike Rice; grandchildren, Adam, Ashlyn, Alexandria, Shane, Kalynn, Ethan, Caney, Elijah and Jeremiah. 

He was preceded in death by his parents; and brothers, Barry L. Rice and Vinson K. Rice. 

Family and friends will gather on Friday, January 24 from 4 to 8 p.m. in Lauck & Veldhof Funeral & Cremation Services, 1458 S. Meridian St.  A service celebrating his life will take place on Saturday, January 25 at 11 a.m. in the funeral home with Pastor Joseph O. Lane.  Burial will follow in Concordia Cemetery. 

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions have been suggested to the American Heart Association.
