In Loving Memory of Henry “Peter” Van
April 10, 1985 – September 3, 2025
Henry “Peter” Van, 40, of Indianapolis, and formerly of Falam, Myanmar, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, September 3, 2025, after an extended illness.
Born on April 10, 1985, Peter carried with him the warmth and resilience of his homeland. He married the love of his life, Emily Mawi, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Battle Creek, Michigan, on December 30, 2017, beginning a journey of devotion and faith that would define his life.
Peter was known for his kindness, patience, and unwavering belief in Christ and his Catholic faith. Even in times of illness, he remained spiritually grounded—often saying, “Call the priest,” with quiet conviction. He found joy in nature, fishing, caring for his pets, and raising chickens. But above all, Peter cherished his family. His love for Emily and their children, Anthony and Esther, was the heartbeat of his life.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Emily Mawi; his children, Anthony Van and Esther Par; and his sisters, Duh Mawi and Tha Hlei Sui. He will be deeply missed by his family and many friends whose lives he touched with grace and generosity.
Family and friends are invited to gather on Friday, September 5, from 4 to 7 p.m. at St. Mark Catholic Church, 535 E. Edgewood Ave., Indianapolis. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, September 6, at 12 noon, with additional visitation from 11 a.m. to 12 noon preceding the service. Interment will follow at Calvary Cemetery.
Services and care are entrusted to Lauck & Veldhof Funeral & Cremation Services.
