Iley J. Meador, 78, of Indianapolis, passed away on Thursday, November 10, 2022, in IU Methodist Hospital. He was born on October 18, 1944 in Franklin, Kentucky, to the late Burton and Hazel (Mandrell) Meador. Iley married the love of his life, Permeitha Mascher, on February 16, 1966; she lovingly survives.
Iley attended George Washington High School in Indianapolis and was a delivery driver for a food and paper products distributor. He was a member of Fleming Garden Christian Church where he served as a deacon. He loved watching wrestling and old westerns on tv and was always collecting pens and flashlights, which he loved to pass out. He loved spoiling his grandchildren with $2 bills, which he always carried.
Survivors include his loving wife of 56 years, Permeitha Meador; son, James Meador; brother, Bobbie Meador; grandchildren, Brittany (Victor) Armenta, Erica Beers, Kristina Beers and Alexandria Woods; and grand dog, Eleanor. He was preceded in death by nine of his siblings and daughter-in-law, Sheila Beers Meador.
Visitation will be held on Friday, November 18 from 10 a.m. to 12 noon in Fleming Garden Christian Church, 530 S. Taft Ave., Indianapolis, IN 46241. The funeral service will follow at 12 noon with Pastor Don Thomas officiating. Burial: Floral Park Cemetery.
Memorial contributions have been suggested to Fleming Street Christian Church; envelopes will be provided at the church.
