James Gregory “Fritz” Dorsey, 74, of Indianapolis, passed away Wednesday, October 22, 2025, in the Richard L. Roudebush Veterans Administration Hospital. The younger son of James Paul and Virginia Laverne Freeman Dorsey, Fritz was born in Indianapolis on Saturday, April 14, 1951.
A graduate of Roncalli High School, Fritz was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force, having served in the Vietnam War. He worked in logistics up until his retirement. Fritz was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church and was a Full-Fledged Member of Sacred Heart of Jesus Unit of the Society of the Knights of the Altar. He enjoyed fishing, playing the ponies at the racetrack, and took in all sports – both professional and collegiate.
Fritz is survived by his two nieces, Shannon P. (Randy) Drummond of Indianapolis and Tammy L. (Tim) Courtney of Wanamaker; four great-nieces and three great-great-nieces; and his companion of 30 years, Deidre O’Shea of Indianapolis. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his older brother, Charles R. Dorsey.

Military services and inurnment will take place on Thursday, November 6, 2025, at 2 p.m. in Crown Hill National Cemetery, Indianapolis.
