James LaMonte Obituary

James Eugene LaMonte

June 30, 1957 — June 13, 2026

Indianapolis

James Eugene LaMonte made his final curtain call on Saturday, June 13th, 2026, in Indianapolis, IN. He was surrounded by his beloved family as he walked across the stage to take his final bow, exiting this temporal life and entering into peace, love and understanding in eternal life.

Jim was born on June 30th, 1957, in Marion County, IN to proud parents Tex and Anna Mae LaMonte. Jim was the oldest of four children. He was preceded in death in 2024 by his younger brother Dale and he is survived by his two younger siblings, Brett LaMonte and Millette Wilbourn.

Jim was uniquely gifted and uniquely placed to enliven and inspire others. He had an alluring personality that effortlessly pulled those around him into his orbit.  He possessed a biting humor that could turn mundane situations into memorable moments! Many of these moments were captured around a table he had prepared with a decadent menu and beautifully crafted cocktails. Jim was the ultimate host.

Along with his husband Jeremy, Jim thrived in the warmth of the spotlight. He was an actor, director, and producer, contributing to many theatre groups across the Circle City panorama. His passion for the arts reached its pinnacle over the past year when he became a playwright and saw his work performed off Broadway. His contributions to local community theatre have had a profound and lasting impact on every life he encountered. Jim and Jeremy enjoyed many adventures traveling the world together but nothing surpassed coming home to their botanical oasis at Capitol J’s.

Jim was a professional photographer, journalist, newspaper editor, graphic designer, and Operations Manager for Marion County Treasurer’s Office.

Jim is survived by his husband Jeremy Tuterow, his two daughters Lauren Nicole Lasley (Michael), Taylor Mae LaMonte, his son Troy Matthew LaMonte (Andrea) and his two stepdaughters Julienne Carey (Mercedes) and Linnea Benham (Logan) and six loving grandchildren, Titus, Isaac, Lainey, Samuel, Kaiya, Christian Jr. and coming soon….Baby Carey!
