James Robert Payne

James Robert Payne, age 93, of Indianapolis, passed away on Sunday, November 20, 2022 at Miller’s Merry Manor, Indianapolis.  James was born on Friday, June 28, 1929 in Burgin, Kentucky, the son of the late Charlie V. and Beatrice (Roy) Payne.

James is survived by his wife, Mary E. (Slaughter) Payne of Indianapolis; a daughter, Delores J. Turner (husband: Jefferey C.) of Indianapolis; a grandson, Everett Turner; a host of nieces and nephews; and dear friend, Rev. Phillip A. Yates of Burgin, Kentucky. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, William Benny Payne; and sisters, infant Lillie B. Payne and Mary Lucille Bradshaw; nephew, Robert William Bradshaw; and niece, Margarget Ann Bradshaw.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 2:00 p.m. at Little Zion Baptist Church - 204 East Water Street in Burgin, Kentucky with burial to follow at Robinson Road Cemetery, Burgin, Kentucky.
