James ("Bruce") Haskel Brown, 67, of Indianapolis, passed away on Monday, March 25, 2024. He was born on October 31, 1956, in Monticello, Kentucky, to James F. and Ada Christeen (Lowe) Brown. He was a graduate of Arsenal Technical High School, class of 1975.
James was the owner of J & J Brown Upholstery and a devoted and loving husband, father and papaw. He enjoyed playing games, puzzles, fishing and camping but nothing brought him greater joy than playing with his grandkids. James was always willing to help and there when you needed him, providing strength and encouragement. He was a huge Elvis fan but will be remembered most for the unconditional love and support he gave his family.
Survivors include his loving wife, Janet M. (Campbell) Brown; children, Joe (Katie) Brown, Jennifer (John Denoon) Lewis Brown and Janel (Joe) Matkins; mother, Ada Christeen Brown; brother, Arie Wiley Brown; sisters, Angela (Hector) Munoz and Fonda Kay (Pastor Mark) Sanders; grandchildren, Jasmine, Carmine, Nathaniel "N.J." and Jack. He was preceded in death by his father, James F. Brown; and son, Jason Brown.
Family and friends will gather on Friday, April 5 from 3 to 5 p.m. in Lauck & Veldhof Funeral & Cremation Services, 1458 S. Meridian St., Indianapolis. A celebration of life service will follow at 5 p.m. with Pastor Mark Sanders officiating.
