James “Ramsay” Hofmeister, 58, died July 19, 2024, in Cortez, Colorado.
Born Oct 25, 1965, in Indianapolis, he was son of Giannina and Gary Hofmeister.
Ramsay attended Immaculate Heart of Mary grade school where he excelled in academics, athletics, and music. He won every violin competition accompanied by his mother on the piano and received a scholarship to play in Europe when he was only 13 years old. Ramsay received a full athletic studies scholarship and attended Culver academy, followed by Colorado Rocky Mountain high school and Cathedral in Indianapolis where he graduated. Throughout these years Ramsay displayed humbleness and was respected, admired, and loved by most everyone he met. He created lifelong friends across the country during these years and has kept in touch with most until the very end. He loved reaching out to his friends and family to reminisce, especially the many stories of his past shenanigans…. he had a lot of them!!
He met the love of his life, the late Lisa Buzzelli, at Cathedral high school and married her in 1990. They had three beautiful children, the late Vincent Hofmeister, his son Joshua and daughter Lindsay, who were all his pride and joy.
Ramsay’s success continued into his work life, applying his self-taught computer and graphic skills at Hofmeister Jewelers, Polymer Technology Systems, and Intervention Diagnostics. In his free time, Ramsay continued his passion and learning of music, teaching himself the guitar while composing his own songs. While in his twenties, he shared his artistry in a band he started with a few friends and sister. Throughout his life, Ramsay was composing and playing music, while sending his favorite songs to his family and countless friends. If you didn’t get a song sent from Ramsay once in your life, you probably just missed it in your email. A few years ago, Ramsay moved away from his hometown of Indianapolis to work on himself and to find a new start to life. He never gave up and was always open to new paths to find happiness and stability. In Colorado, he really enjoyed the serenity of the surrounding mountains while continuing his life journey.
Ramsay was a cheerleader for all and showed compassion, understanding and help for those in need despite his own challenges. He had a laugh you would never forget and a great sense of humor that would entertain all in the room. In the end, Ramsay should not be remembered for his personal struggles but for the deep love he had for his family, friends, music, and God. He will be deeply missed, and we can now find comfort to know he is finally at peace alongside his son, Vincent.
