Jamie Lee Spears, age 50, of Indianapolis, passed away tragically after falling from a ladder on Wednesday, November 20, 2024. Jamie was born on July 3, 1974, in Indianapolis, to David Wayne Spears and Deborah Lynn (Morgan) Spears; he was preceded in death by his father and young son, Braden Lee Spears. In death, Jamie became a hero through the gift of organ donation, saving five lives. His donor flag will fly proudly during visitation at the funeral home.
Jamie was a life-long resident of the Old Southside in Indianapolis and was well loved by the whole community. At a young age, he was nicknamed by his grandmother, Jamie “Dill Pickle” Spears as he would go straight to the refrigerator for her pickles every time he walked in the door. Jamie was a great provider, was funny, charismatic and loved music. You always knew when Jamie was near as he was loud and always had a good time; he had a real presence.
Survivors include his mother, Deborah L. Spears; wife of 25 years, Julia Check; sons, Jaden Charles Spears and Julian Xavier Spears; second-mother, Jo Ann Spears; siblings, Carrie Spears Tibbs, Shawn Spears, Joe Brown, Chris (Kim) Spears and David (Stacey) Spears; his beloved dog, Harley; and many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.
