Janet “Granny” Ball, 75, passed away December 5, 2024.
She was born July 4, 1949, to Jack and Jean Young.
Janet was raised on the Young Family Farm, in Ladoga, IN, and graduated from Ladoga High School in 1967. She continued her studies at Ball State University before marrying her husband, Michael Ball, in 1971. She worked in administration at the Indiana State House for a few years before giving birth to her 2 sons, Michael and Timothy Ball. Thereafter, she spent most of her time relishing in the spoils of motherhood while filling the role of homemaker and intermittent substitute teacher. Janet was a 30-year liver transplant survivor and very seldom let it slow her down. Janet loved big family events, vacations, the holidays, and chasing her sons and grandkids to sporting events. She was not afraid to speak her mind, would always defend friends and family, and was a big conversationalist. Janet spent the majority of her time updating friends and family on her 7 grandkids. She spent the last 8 years of her life on the southside of Indianapolis where she became active with St Jude Catholic Church and truly enjoyed the social events within the church community.
She was the oldest of 5 children and is survived by all 4 of her siblings. Her brother, Roger (Ann) Young, resides in Marietta, GA while her other 2 younger brothers, Britt and Brad (Cathy) Young reside in Indiana. Her sister, Terri (Donnie) Gilstrap, resides in Crawfordsville, IN. She is also survived by her 2 sons, Michael (Mary) of Indianapolis, IN and Timothy (Angelina) of Crawfordsville, IN; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 46 years, Mike, who passed in 2018. She is also preceded in death by her parents Jack and Jean Young.
